Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $98,603 - Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, holidays, paid time off, and paid family medical leave. Allowable travel costs are reimbursed

FCF is seeking a Finance Manager to join its growing team, which is expanding to serve more childcare providers and more communities nationally. The Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial management at First Children’s Finance. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work closely with programmatic leadership across the organization. The incumbent will manage tracking of funding and expenditures in accordance with GAAP. Other responsibilities include compliance reporting, funding reconciliations, year-end audit, and reporting.

This is a remote position but will require travel as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Produces monthly financial reports regarding budgets, actual and forecast for the CFO.
  • Supports financial reporting for annual budget planning, audit reviews and assessments.
  • Directs, manages, and oversees the Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable functions (including invoicing)
  • Stays up to date with the latest trends in financial accounting and compliance.
  • Provides accounting support, financial reporting, and technical assistance to our CFO.
  • Supports the CFO to forecast, spend, and reallocate budgets; provide reports for review.
  • Assists with the development of financial policies and procedures, creating consistencies, efficiencies and implementing best practices.
  • Prepares financial reports for funders and external partners.
  • Assists with the preparation of organizational and project audits.
  • Supervises and directs the work of two staff, ensures employees receive initial and ongoing training on FCF tools, provide ongoing supervision and mentoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in nonprofit or foundation accounting; knowledge of GAAP, business principles and standard operating practices.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of federal grant requirements.
  • Knowledge or experience with childcare preferred. Experience working collaboratively with communities of color and low-resourced communities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with a wide range of finance issues.
  • Ability in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced data manipulation, advanced formulas, and other data analysis tools available in Excel).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks on multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent self-management and upward management skills including proactive communication to colleagues of progress against expectations.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate financial information to decision-makers in ways that suggest solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills

Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to work on the computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.
